I wanted to share a few of the photos from the museum with you. Unfortunately I was not able to take any at the Degas and the Nude and Aphrodite and the Gods of Love exhibitions, but I did take several at Gems of Rajput Painting and Jewels, Gems, and Treasures: Ancient to Modern.
This exhibition features a collection of paintings made for the princess of Rajasthan and the Punjab hills. The exhibit represented four of Rajput's painting's central themes: women and romance, heroic narratives, Krishna and Hindu devotion and country life. The detail in these paintings was unreal. I tried to capture some of it in the pictures.
This exhibition examines the various roles and meanings associated with a wide range of gem materials. The pieces here range from the 24th century BC to the 19th-century.
The first image that shows the little birds is of two earrings and a brooch made of hummingbird feathers. They are so dainty!
